UMI Hotel beneath Eyjafjöll has been awarded the MICHELIN Key for the second year in a row. The recognition comes alongside a major expansion of the hotel, with 17 new rooms opening on 23 December. This brings the total number of rooms at UMI to 45.

UMI is part of the Icelandic hotel group KNOX Hotels and has built a strong position in high-end accommodation in South Iceland. The MICHELIN Key is an international recognition awarded to hotels that excel in service, design and an exceptional guest experience.

17 new rooms

The expansion includes 17 new rooms in three categories: Deluxe rooms, Premium rooms and Signature Suites. The rooms are designed with a focus on natural materials, refined design and closeness to Icelandic nature. The 65 m² Signature Suites stand out in particular, with a private terrace, private sauna and outdoor hot tub.

A great recognition for the team

“We are incredibly proud that UMI has received the MICHELIN Key for the second year in a row. It is a great recognition of our wonderful team and the experience they create for our guests every day. It is especially rewarding to receive this recognition just as we step into a new chapter with the expansion of UMI. We can’t wait to show our guests the new side of UMI.” – Anna Kruczek, Hotel Manager at UMI
